My Teaching Journey
In the Classroom
I have spent 5 years teaching in 3rd and 4th grades. I enjoyed watching my students blossom as independent learners as they began to take ownership of their learning. We loved centers and games in my classroom. My favorite days were when my students worked in groups and I could just watch the learning happen. I love watching students teach each other.

And Out of the Classroom
After my first 2 years in the classroom I wanted a change so I taught outdoor education for a year. This might still be my favorite job because I got to teach science and team building through experiences. I loved seeing kids face their fears on the ropes course and then work as a team to build a bottle rocket applying their knowledge of forces and motion.
Which led me to…
STEM Teacher & Tech Coach
Today, I teach STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) to kindergarten through sixth grade students. I am constantly learning with and from my students as I start the STEM lab at my school. I feel like I am getting back to the experiential learning from my outdoor education days and that is what makes me excited to go to work every morning.
I am also the instructional technology coach for all teachers in my building covering kindergarten through twelfth grade. Being the tech guru in the midst of a pandemic and virtual learning is a challenge to say the least. I have learned so much in this role that I feel like I’m back in my first year teaching. Teaching teachers has strengthened my passion for content creation as I work to support my colleagues in their classrooms.
I am creating resources for my STEM classes and resources to help teachers with tech tools. I hope you’ll join me as I continue my teaching journey!
